Abstract

This study evaluated the rainfall and outflow series of the Cuiaba River watershed, portion south center of the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Data of the temporary rainfall series collected in the meteorological station of the 9th District of Meteorology of Mato Grosso were used. The behavior of the precipitations (annual, dry trimester mean, humid trimester mean) and outflows (annual, dry trimester mean, humid trimester mean) were analyzed
through data collected in the periods from 1913 to 1998 and from 1962 to 1998, respectively. The dry and humid trimesters were conferred by using the groupings analysis. The analysis of the rainfall outflow distribution was made in bivariete graph for visual characterization throughout the considered periods. In function of the visual behavior presented by the series, the linear regression was applied by the ordinary least squares method. It was found that the time series of outflow and rainfall showed similar behaviors.
