Abstract

This work aimed at evaluating of the wood technology characterization of Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze. The tests physical-mechanical were realized according to ASTM D 143 and ASTM D 2525 normative recommendations. Three trees from a 50 years old and superior diameter of 40 cm were harvested. Samples were taken near the pith (juvenile wood) and the bark (mature wood). The results indicated that mature wood presented highest dimensional stability and resistance than juvenile wood.
