Reliability limits for pureness and germination of species agricultural seeds

Abstract

This work aimed at establishing limits of pureness reliability and germination of agricultural species according to a distribution probability. It considers results from 1.332 seed analyses made between 2007 and 2014. These data come from archives of Santa Maria Federal University’s seed lab. Lolium multiflorum seed lots showed low quality in pureness and germination (59 per cent) below the minimum standard for commercialization determined by legislation. Glycine max had the lowest amplitude in germination behavior. Lolium multiflorum, Triticum aestivum, and Oryza sativa did not show germination rates acceptable within the low reliability limits. For seed lots commercialization, one suggests germination rates established in the average reliability limit for Oryza sativa (80 < G ? 94), Avena strigosa (83 < G ? 97), and Glycine max (88 < G ? 98). When it comes to understand seed germination rates, reliability limits for pure seeds, inert material and other seeds have to be used as auxiliary.
